About this website

The aim of this website is to provide information about the Northampton & Lamport Railway, a standard gauge heritage railway in Northamptonshire, England. The domain vintagetransport.org.uk and the site hosting is provided by Inspiratech 2000 Ltd.

Unless otherwise specified, no part of this website has been endorsed, sponsored, or promoted by either Northampton Steam Railway Limited or the Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society. The Railway has an official website and persons wishing to view it may do so at http://www.nlr.org.uk. As of 18^th January 2010 the site's HTML does not Validate, and still uses depracated markup such as <font> tags, and the non-standard <marquee> tag. Be warned — the site contains gratuitous use of Comic Sans.

The Webmaster of this site is a member of Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society and a Shareholder of Northampton Steam Railway Ltd. and is using this website as an additional resource to promote the development of the Railway.

The former "Vintage Transport Group"

When the domain vintagetransport.org.uk was registered, a group of Railway volunteers known as the "Vintage Transport Group" was responsible for organising three events each year:

Classic and Sports Car Show
Vintage Transport Weekend
1940s Weekend

As of 2010, the Classic and Sports Car Show is not running, the Vintage Transport Weekend has been changed to the Vintage Gathering with a new organiser, and the 1940s Weekend has now evolved into the Railway at War with its own organising committee.

With no separate events to promote, the domain and website would otherwise be out of date or empty. It was decided to use the site to promote all activities at the Railway.

Privacy Policy

This gives details of what information is collected from visitors to the website, and how it is used. No information which could be used to identify an individual is collected without that individual's permission.

Server Logs: Whenever a page, image, or other document is requested from the server by a visitor's web browser, a log is kept which lists information such as the date, time, IP Address, Browser type, and referring URL (if any). These logs are not accessible by the public; only the site administrators can view them. This is standard practice on all Web Servers, and logfiles are deleted automatically after 7 days. Site Meter: This site uses the services of sitemeter.com as an extension of the basic "web counter" which counts the number of unique visitors, as well as the number of "page views" (individual pages viewed by one visitor in the course of a single visit to the site). Site Meter also collects additional information, similar to the Server Logs, which can be used to create statistics in graphical form, e.g. a pie chart showing the different Web Browsers used to view the site.

E-mail: There are links on this site which allow visitors to send E-mail messages to the site administrators or other officers of the Railway. These links have been obfuscated to prevent automatic "harvesting" of the E-mail addresses by "spam-bots". Regular visitors are able to click the links to send E-mail in the usual way.

Data Protection Act 1984: If you send us an E-mail, your E-mail address and any other personal details included in the message will be used to deal with your enquiry and will be archived on computer. We may on occasion use these details to send you information related to Northampton & Lamport Railway. If you do not wish to receive this information, please state this clearly in your message.
